Business Fundamentals Quick Start
If you’re anything like me, you didn’t go to school for business. You pursued a career that didn’t teach you anything about money, running a business, or even retirement. You have always wanted to own your own business but what might hold you back is what actually is involved in doing just that.
For me, I was the same way. In pharmacy school, I had always been interested in taking control of my future by not wanting to work for someone else, but rather, work for myself and be in charge of my destiny.
In pharmacy school, I was at my highest weight of my life. The constant studying, eating junk food or pizza, and the stress was just mounting up day by day. I had had enough. I decided to put Insanity in the DVD player. My brother somehow had got it but never used it. I didn’t have any intentions on completing the whole program. I put in day 1’s DVD, completed it without throwing up (not many can say the same) and then continued on to complete day 2 the next day. At the end of the workout, they told us to log onto the website and sign up for a free account and also you would get a free coach to help you along the way. This is now the point where my life began to change.
I was assigned my coach, Bethany. Long story short, she worked with me to help me to finish the 60-day Insanity program. At the end, I had lost a ton of weight and inches and was wanting to continue my health and fitness journey. Bethany called me up and recommended that I sign up as a coach as well and I can learn to help others go through what I was going through all while getting paid some extra money in the process. I most certainly was skeptical to hear about such a business venture, I thought it was too easy.
Welcome to the world of network marketing or multi-level marketing (MLM). Most of you by now have probably heard of various MLMs or network marketing companies. You probably think of the word pyramid scheme as you hear these words. Unfortunately, in the early stages of this business model, there were companies that took advantage of their network marketers and ended up being sued and shut down. This is why today we keep hearing about “pyramid schemes”.
Nowadays, the seasoned companies that have been around for years are not illegal an in fact, a great business model. Not only can you succeed in this type of business, you can more importantly learn a lot of tools about business that you haven’t been formerly taught.
Companies do a great job at providing tools and trainings for their new marketers to take advantage of. These trainings along with your upline (fancy word for business partner), will teach you fundamentals about business, network marketing, and marketing strategies that will help you become successful in your MLM business.
What’s great about these fundamentals is that they not only apply to network marketing, but they also apply to different types of business models.
I strongly recommend someone who is looking to start their own business or company, to first start with an MLM company so you can get your feet wet and learn what is necessary for you to succeed in the long run. I was actively in the network marketing business for 5 years and not only did I learn tools that make me successful today, I got to network with other individuals that were in network marketing but also started their own business on the side that outgrew their MLM business.
By starting out with a network marketing company in the beginning of your entrepreneur ride, you will have a much better advantage in succeeding in the long run as opposed to people who don’t have any network marketing experience.
